I'm down south for the winter and due to Covid19 unable to get home to NH for the Holidays. I'm down here with only a pair of jeans as long pants - not very well thought out, I admit, but looking for something to wear on the golf course in cooler weather.

I'm not looking for anything form fitting (what guy is??) but something with some stretch.

    Any recommendations? Thanks.

FootJoy five pockets. Great fit. Fit like jeans but have the looks of a golf pants. Accepted on any golf course. Work and play in them. Keeping it in the Acushnet family of products.

Love FJ clothing and nearly every shirt I wear on the course has the FJ logo. Also, I have tons of FJ vests, pullovers and rain gear, etc, plus a dozen pairs of FJ shoes with another pair of MyJoys DryJoys on the way in Cobalt Viper trim. But I'm getting off the subject.

With golf pants, though FJ is very well made, I find they are not my favorite fitting brand. For me, they always seem to be too long or low-waisted. I have three or four pair of them, as well as another three of four of their shorts. I hate to say it because I am such a FJ fanatic otherwise, there are other brands I like a little bit more, fit-wise.

I have found that FJ pants seem a touch longer in the inseam than most others with the same inseam length specified, and their newer shorts are an inch too short for my liking. That may be the trend, but I am most comfortable in 10 1/2 or 11 inch inseam shorts. Not 9. Too short for my taste.

Adidas 365 shorts fit me well, and frankly, the Golf Galaxy/Dick's brand, Hagen 11, pants are a great fitting, comfortable option. I kills me to recommend them over Footjoy, but they are both fit me well. Footjoy may fit you perfectly. If so, you can't go wrong with them. I just wish they fit me better, since 90% of the rest of my very vast golf wardrobe is by Footjoy.

I like my Under Armour golf pants. Good for work and golf. More on the form fitting side, but definitely not "skinny jeans" snug.

My favorite golf pants are Bonobos. They have a few fits depending on thighs and taper that you like. Plus their golf pants usually ship and arrive in 2-3 days.
  7. FJ or Peter Millar 5-pocket. They’re perfect.
You’ll wear them up to 80 degs.

There are 2 Dick's Sporting Goods stores located in Ft. Myers, probably your best bet for golf slacks in that area. A word to the wise for those who are coming to Florida for the winter. Contrary to popular belief, Florida is not sunny and 80 degrees every day during the winter. The other day, the 8 am temp. was a brisk 40 degrees with a 15 mph wind. Try standing on the 1st tee in shorts and a golf shirt in that. Don't forget to pack slacks, a mock turtleneck if you have one and your golf pullover. I still have my Titleist cart mittens from when I lived in NY and they come in handy every now and then.

Check out Goodwill's and thrift stores down there...you never know what you'll find! I've bought Izod, Adidas and swoosh pants all in great shape and all very inexpensive. It's hit or miss as far as inventory goes but with some patience and persistence you'll find what you need at a huge savings with an added bonus of helping out the less fortunate...
  10. Look up cold weather pants in many of the golf retailers...I have a pair and love the stretch fleece lined aspect of it.

I favor anything FJ and have multiple versions. As pointed out above, the standard fit FJ pants probably fit a little long for some, but at 6'5" and no one really making adequately long enough pants, I'm thankful for the length. The 5 pocket FJ athletic fit pants are also a great option, although you may have to go longer with the inseam if you don't like cold ankles. Wish they had a little more distance between the top of the inseam and waistline, if that was my one complaint, since they are comfortable, but I always feel like I'm playing tug of war with the waist.

The FJ tour fit are the compromise between the two. I have an earlier generation and not the latest, when they had a linen texture. You can't go wrong.
  12. FJ 5 pockets are solid! If you're looking for a cheaper option that doesn't sacrifice too much on the quality, check out the ProTour golf pants at belt, solid pants that always seem to be on sale for $30-45 off

I doubt it gets all that cold in the Ft. Meyers area. Up here at the Jersey Shore, FJ pants are just not warm enough when your playing in wind chills in the 30s. Long John's and a grey pair of Levi's with the stretch in them work well. Hard to tell what pants anyone's playing in when your that layered up anyway. The key is staying warm!!

For low cost, Costco often carries Greg Norman golf/travel long pants. I’ve found them to fit well to labeled size.

FJs are always good but, in a pinch check out Marshalls, TJ Maxx, or Nordstom Rack if any are in your area. You can sometimes find Greg Normans and decent wool slacks and khakis.

Definitely love the under Armour pants. Great fit and great quality. I’m getting ready to check out some foot joy pants this year though.

Another rec for the Under Armour pants, specifically the chinos for cooler weather. They have a decent amount of stretch especially in the waist, and you have a choice between tapered or straight leg, I personally prefer the taper since it fits really nicely and looks good.

Adidas they have a snap and fly zipper if FJ had that would buy them for sure.
