I must have fixed my share of divots over the years. My golf buddies presented me with a new Titleist divot tool once they noticed mine was getting too sharp and was dangerous to keep in my front pocket.

Very nice - you've got a good group there. My group would just give me a used tee.

Those red ones are nice. That nubby works best.

I'm impressed that you were able to keep the first one long enough to wear it down that much. I usually lose my good Scotty pitch mark tools within the first few months. Probably lost five so far. But, I've never worn one out, despite playing 4-5 rounds a week, while usually fixing multiple pitch marks on every green. Mine and many others of those who are lazy. I commend you for your efforts, Lance.

That is very nice, also great usage of the old one.

Sounds like a good group of friends. I can’t believe your old one got sharp like that. Nothing like reaching in your pocket and getting stabbed by tees, let alone a razor sharp divot tool.

    that is crazy haha
  10. Lance,
What on earth are your greens based on????
Can't really comprehend how just repairing a pitch mark (no matter how often) can turn a repair tool into a lethal weapon!!

Nice group you have to do that for you. The old one looks really dangerous.

Very nice, never seen one wore out like that. But it's for a good reason. My group has a unwritten rule, fix 2 ball marks per hole or lose a point. We don't take point if you don't but you will hear it for a few holes. Lol I just wish others knew the value of the process..... I'll stop before a rant comes on.

Glad to see others making the effort though,

I've worn down both of mine.
I wish Scotty would fill in the holes like my button back putter.
The tees get stuck in the holes in the divot tool in my pocket.

Keep at it, Those tips will start sharpening up soon. Mine took about 10 years at about 100 rounds per season.

Lance B, Kudos and as a retired Golf Course Superintendent, thank you! That is impressive! I used to wear out pocket knives in the course of my travels fixing ball marks and checking greens but I’ve never seen a divot tool worn like that!

I appreciate the feedback from a former Golf Course Superintendent. Thanks for all you have done over your career for caring and keeping the golf courses in such great shape so golf fanatics like me can enjoy this great game.

That is great to see, Lance! Nice job taking care of the course and presumably leaving it better than you found it!

Reminds me of a presentation I did to a men's golf committee years ago, titled "signs you might be playing too much golf". It included a show and tell with ball mark tools as you display as well as some of these comments:

Neighbors compare your lawn to the rough at Shinnecock Hills

Go to empty your pockets of tees, ball markers, etc. onto your bureau only to realize your bureau is covered with tees, ball markers, etc.

Your exec. assistant is on a first name basis with your golf shop staff

You wake up a bit groggy and discover you are driving to the golf course, not to the office
  19. Hate when that happens. Had to throw my last tool away after back to back rounds drawing blood through my pocket.

I must admit I've done that a few times with the old divot tool too.
