After viewing recent discussion comments it appears that the integrity of some golfers or golf staffers is becoming a problem.  I have had the pleasure of playing this game  for many years, on private and public courses and not until recently have I heard discussions about items being taken off of golf bags, from inside of golf bags, from lockers, or golf clubs left on driving ranges or golf holes not returned to the owner or turned into the pro shop.

Gentlemen/Ladies,  what do we have left in life but our integrity. If we allow that to be compromised, then what?

Of course, if you know someone who is an integrity problem, don't play in a tournament or event that involves prizes or cash, because you know that person will cheat.

IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE NOT RETURNING CLUBS LEFT BEHIND BY GOLFERS WHO LOSE TRACK OF TIME OR FEEL RUSHED ON THE COURSE TO A POINT THEY LOSE SOME CLUBS, I HAVE A POSSIBLE FIX.  WOULD CLUB PURCHASERS PAY FOR TITLEIST TO ENGRAVE THEIR NAMES OR  SOME ID ON THE BACK OF THE CLUB LIKE  BOB VOKEY DOES ON WEDGES. THIS MIGHT HELP.  ALSO I HAVE FOUND IF A GOLFER GETS INTO A HABIT OF KEEPING HIS CLUBS IN ORDER IN HIS BAG, HE CAN TAKE A QUICK LOOK AND TELL IF ALL THE CLUBS ARE IN THE BAG.  IT HELPED ME WHEN I ALMOST LOST A PUTTER!!! WHEN I FIRST STARTED PLAYING GOLF. HOPE THIS HELPS!!

These same people who don't turn in lost clubs will file or grind a club ID stamps in a second.   My 13 yr old grandson lost a plaid Old Course  hat I bought him that fell out of his bag.  After a few holes, I waited for the guys playing behind us.  The cart driver said he didn't see one.  As I walked away, I noticed his passenger, who was looking the other way, was wearing an Old Course vest.   Only when my Grandson apologized to me for losing it, did this weasle dig it out of his bag.  Said he didn't hear me ask.

I agree with what you have to say Vincent, but there is that small percentage of people who have no integrity in life, yet alone a golf course.  They will cheat during a tournament or gosh forbid steal equipment from another player.  It is a fact of life that this will happen, and those of us who are honest and helpful, returning a found club must help educate those who need it.  No t allowing those with integrity in your game or tourney is a start, but just watching out for others on the course and range is also needed.  All it takes is one or two shady characters to turn many people off to golf.  But those with honesty and integrity vastly outnumber those shady folks, we just have to help watch out for others as well as ourselves.
