Hey TT! Been a bit but still going strong here in Oregon! Thanks to some advice on Facebook Team Titleist my golf game is improving. Excited for the driver I am getting to try out this week it’s a TSi 1 but with my slow swing hoping it works for me. Always wondered if I should have gotten the 1 instead of the 2 lol

The -1 drivers are lighter and can develop more club head speed. They also generate more spin that is helpful for lower swing speeds to launch and stay in the air.

That said, if too light, consistent on center hits may be a problem if feeling where the head is a problem. In my case, off center hits reduced the smash factor so my increase in head speed was offset by a decrease in ball speed. The off center hits may have also contributed to high spin rates (4000+) that resulted in steep descents with no roll out.

So in my case, although well below 90 mph, the -2 drivers with a light shaft work better. Important for those of outside the center of the bel curve of average speed to get fit. The -1 driver may work well for you, but even with a used club, one should trial it with an electronic device to check launch, ball speed, and spin to make sure it is an improvement.

My only recommendation would have been to go see a fitter to ensure that you have the right shaft to compliment the head, whether it be a 1, 2, or 3. I am 77 and play a TSI3D 10* with a Fujikura Speeder 661 TR S. Thanks to my fitter it provides me a lot of fun, feel, distance and keeps me in the fairway most of the time. My fairways are a TSI2 15* and a TSR1 18*. My hybrids are TSR1s, 20* and 23*, all Fujikura Speeders shafts. Definitely worth the visit to a certified fitter. Some fitters will apply their fee towards the price. Worth checking into.
