Blades, mid-mallets, and mallets. Rounder profiles with soft contours or squarer profiles with sharp angles. Putters are designed in a variety of shapes and sizes, and Paul Vizanko, Director of Tour Research and Putter Fitting, explains how the shape you select can influence both your alignment and putting stroke.

Interesting perspective. Not something I had taken into consideration before.

Mid Mallet for me. Finally got fit and found the GoLo 6 fits me best...

This is interesting as I didn't realize there were so many factors going into putter head designs. I have tried a couple of Phantoms, looking to gain some stability and forgiveness. I never felt comfortable with them (gave them more than a fair trial on the course), but ended up coming back to a Studio Stainless 2.7. I seem to make more putts with this tool than the Phantoms. The Phantom 6S has an aluminum face, and I found that to be a bit too soft and thus not providing enough feel or auditory feedback, so I tried a newer 5. This has more feedback, but I still don't feel I make any more putts (nor being better at lag putts) than with the 2.7. Maybe I just am more comfortable with the more angular/rectangular shape of a Newport style blade.

Love basic traditional blade lines. I use a Newport 2
    .
The profile of the toe helps me see if I turn it on the takeaway easier than a larger head putter.
The futuristic head putters as a friend calls them, distract my vision.

I look at the hole trace my putting line back to the ball then putt once I get there.
So smaller simpler lines are a huge preference for me.
