  1. Titleist may get requests for sponsorships regularly, but does Titleist offer sponsorships for average Joes who neither play competitive golf nor participate in any tournaments? Basically I am a weekend warrior who loves golf! I would buy my own equipment, but I really can't afford to drop $1000 on irons. I would love to play Titleist but I can't afford the equipment. Can you Titleist help me out?

    Hi Tuan,

    Thanks for the post and we really appreciate your enthusiasm for the game and for Titleist.  As you noted, we do receive many requests for merchandise throughout the course of a year. As you can imagine, the cost of honoring all such requests would be prohibitive, and, because we do not want to discriminate by honoring some and not others, it is company policy to refrain from providing complimentary merchandise. I hope you can understand our position on this.

    Best,
    Mike

    Tuan,

    the other issue that you would have is that by getting a "sponsorship" you would not longer be concidered an Amateur.

    You can have a sponsorship and still be an amateur, as long as you don't get money, it's okay.

    Thanks,

    Sorry to disagree but the USGA rules are quite clear...

    Note 1: Actions by an amateur golfer for the purpose of becoming a professional golfer include, but are not limited to:

    (a) accepting the position of a professional golfer;

    (b) receiving services or payment, directly or indirectly, from a professional agent;

    (c) entering into a written or oral agreement, directly or indirectly, with a professional agent or sponsor; and

    A sponsorship make you a professional.....

  7. Dear Mike,

    My son will attempt to qualify for Q-Schol next year.  If he does qualify he would be the youngest ever to hold a card.    I would like you or someone from your organization to contact me so that we may confidentially discuss how Titleistcan help him with his career once he has his card.  Thanks for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,

    Vick

    Hi Vick,

    Thanks for the note and good luck to your son at Q-School.  Your best bet for more sponsorship information would be to reach out to the Tour Department and you can get some more information by following this link: http://www.titleist.com/customer-service/faqs/112/Sponsorship.aspx

    Thanks again!

    Hey mike, I wonder how many times you'll have to answer a question like this.
