  1. My wife and I are staying at Orange Tree Resort and are looking to take advantage of the summer rates in the area. I have already been eyeing Stonecreek, Starfire, and Silverado, as these are the courses we played when we were last here in March. We typically play Orange Tree a couple of times, then try and play a few other courses in the area over the remaining days. Any recommendations on other courses in the area that have great summer rates or would be similar in price? I am specifically looking at morning tee times between 7AM and 11AM.

This is the timeframe when I play the high-end courses. I just played Troon North a few weeks ago and last summer played We-Ko-Pa. Greyhawk is another good one. All three of those have 2 courses each. I also did Quintero Golf Club last summer. Just go to each course website and they will have a way to reserve a tee time. Many will tike reservations well in advance so check them out soon. If you are not looking for the high-end courses, just use golf now.com to find some courses. Enjoy!

    Great advice - Thanks Dale!

Played Troon North Monument the Thursday of TTI last year. Awesome course, but got dark early. We-Ko-Pa is definitely on my list for the next time I'm in that area. Have you played both courses there and if you did, which was your favorite?

Yes I have played them both. Saguaro is the highest rated and most popular but I think I liked Cholla slightly better. It could have been that I was just playing better the day I played Cholla or the people I was with. Can’t go wrong with either one, ideally play them both.

Definitely check out Troon North, Quintero is an awesome course. The Raven in Phoenix is a nice break from the traditional desert golf. You can also check out the Trilogy courses. They have several throughout the valley.
  7. Heading down to PHX later this week for 11 days. Some great recommendations in here. I would put WeKoPa and Grayhawk are fabulous. TPC Scottsdale (Stadium and Champions) is also a really fun experience. Summer is the time to play these courses. They are ridiculously overpriced come Winter.

Got to play we-ko-pa and southern dunes last month and loved both courses. Stay hydrated, that sun is killer.
  9. Time for overseed now in the valley. most courses close for a while to let the new winter grass take hold. Next summer if you head this way, being a member of Troon North of course I am partial, that being said I would also suggest We-Ko Pa, Quintero .
Enjoy Scottsdales wonderful golf courses and fabulous people!
