I’ve been to pinehurst 2 and consider myself very lucky to say that. I’ve been fortunate enough to play No. 2 twice as well with both being in the morning. That leads me to my question. Has anyone ever played it in the afternoon and finished the round at golden hour? I know early on the conditions may be “better” but any input on early or late afternoon tee times at a place like No. 2 is appreciated!

  2. Played No2 at the golden hour a last year (Sept 2023). We finished about 20 minutes before dusk. Finishing on 18 was awesome with everyone around. Special place and memory.
  3. Played there 2022. Had a morning tee time, was overcast and rainy that day. Still an unforgettable round. Played no4 the next day with the first time of the day. Watching the sun come up over the course was an incredible experience. Would absolutely recommend playing at sunrise if given the chance

I'd say anytime that gives ample time to finish is fine with me. I spent a lot of time at Pinehurst in my Fort Bragg days, it's a special area, for sure. Partial rounds aren't any fun at a premium rate, as I found out at Pebble a few years ago, playing an extra round in the afternoon.

I live in Pinehurst and am a member at the resort. I love the late tee times on #2. It’s an even more incredible place when the sun starts to set on the back nine. The setting sun and shadows from the pine trees look amazing. And you get a full “gallery” at The Deuce and members restaurant behind the 18th green. If you come out in the summer and want a late tee time on #2, try to tee off on the first hole so you can finish on 18. In the warmer season, they send players off the 1st and 10th tees.
  6. Nothing beats coming up 18 on No.2 at dusk with a full crowd at the deuce.

Probably my favorite Resort, anywhere. They make you feel like family. True southern hospitality. Love it up there and have played 2, 4, and 8, with my friends from TT and Vokey. So close yet so far away. Nice four hour drive.
