  1. i was wondering what everyone thought about a 43.5 inch 910 d2 ? i haven't lost any distance at all and am hitting the sweet spot more. I do this with all my drivers and i had it cut from the butt end. what changes have i made to the kalii shaft in the process ? does anyone else prefer a short driver ? cheers. David

It's not something I have done but it's quite common on tour to go to 44.5".

In essence you're trading off length for accuracy/sweeter strike. Having said that cutting it down to 43.5" is pretty drastic.

Don't forget it will make the shaft slightly stiffer too.

Just choke down a lot first on the range and I would say try 44" first...

  3. Recently I'd been missing a few fairways so in desperation I stuck my 3wood shaft in my d2 driver. It took a bit of getting used to, the club felt way too light and the head looked even bigger! But so far I've yet to miss a fairway with that set-up. Although it did cost me about 20-30 yards distance, until I eventually came to my senses and booked a lesson.

^ You can buy the weight kit which [I think} will get swing weight back, but be aware that this along will not affect distance.

If you're serious about hitting fairways and have to hit a driver then cutting it down is the way forward.

As you say though, get a lesson first.

    Hi Sean,

Having spoken with one of our fitting technicians from the National Fitting Centre at St Ives, it sounds as though the skies are more likely to be related to getting too steep on your attack angle, rather than the setting of the driver. A sky is most likely to occur from the ball being struck off the top of the club which could be explained by getting too steep or simply having the ball teed too high.

    Thanks

is there any truth behind the rumour that their will be a mitsubushi basaara shaft available on the 910 metal series later this year ?

Hi Sean - we are launching moderate speed versions of 910 drivers, fairways and hybrids. This includes extending the loft options in 910 D2, 910F and 910H, as well as making more shaft options (including lightweight Titleist Bassara shafts) available.

Our SureFit accounts and Titleist National Fitting Centres have these options now, so you can be fit for such products straight away - stock product will begin shipping to accounts at the end of January / first week in February!

    Hope this helps!

What do you mean by moderate swing versions ?
  12. Team Titleist Staff

Hi Sean - this would typically be categorised as ball speeds below 135mph with a driver.

    Thanks

i have a 910 h 19 degree hybrid what low launching shaft would help get that to 17 degrees with out changing the sure fit technology or the hybrid?

  14. Team Titleist Staff

Hi Sean - the feedback from our fitting technicians is that Speeder 904HB, Motore F3 95HB or Rombax 8D07HB would launch the ball the lowest as they are very stable / stiff shafts.

We would recommend that you go to get fit to affect such changes - either at your nearest Titleist SureFit account or at one of the National Fitting Centres - as they will be able to look at your angle of attack, etc.

You can also try going to a D1 setting on your SureFit Tour hosel, as this will reduce loft by 0.75 degs to 18.25 deg.

    Hope this helps.
