Hi all, I am going for an iron fitting next month at Kings Acre and wanted to try both the KBS tour and C-tapers. However the C-tapers only appear to be available in the US and are not listed as an option on the UK website. Can anyone clarify. Thanks.

    Hi Eric,

There are C-Taper shafts at Kings Acre - standard length stiff and extra stiff. These are available as a custom option.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply but I have a follow up question. I really fancy the AP2s but when I tried it in the shaft I currently play DG X100 it was going really high. I currently play Mizuno MP62s which go a little higher than I would like so is there a shaft out there that would keep the ball lower with the AP2s? Or alternatively try the CBs which are similar to the type of iron I play now and get a lower flight. I know everyone will say just go and try them all but looking for advice or experiences. Thanks again, eric

    Hi Eric,

Just to provide a little perspective from one of our fitting technicians:

"The DGX100 is one of the lowest launching shafts, but without watching the ball flight and swing, as well as trying some other set ups, it is difficult to suggest alternatives. The CBs should produce a slightly lower launch as well compared to the AP2s. Not the answer Eric is looking for, but the best thing is to book a fitting appointment with a Titleist fitting partner or visit one of the National Fitting Centres!"

Maybe some other members can share their experiences?

Hi all, as promised I will post details of my fitting at Kings Acre today for irons and wedges. I first of all hit some shots on Trackman with my own irons and the numbers were good as I had been custom fitted for them 2 years ago. My swing speed of 95 mph with a 6 iron has not changed since my last custom fit by my perception of how far I hit the ball was a bit off. I generally think I hit my 6 iron 180 yards but it is more like 190 with my mizunos. I hit the AP2 first of all with my current shaft DG X100 which went higher than I wanted but was not blown away by the feel. I then hit the CB with the X100 and thought they felt much softer. Dispersion was OK but we then tried the KBS -taper which was my fitters first suggestion. It turned out it was the only suugestion. Tried them in the CB first of all and the feel was even better than the DG shaft with a very slightly lower ball flight and even greater distance. It was going 200 /205 yards. I then tried the C-tapers with the AP2 and got similar results only with a higher ball flight. I was confused as both were very good but the soft feel of the CB head won it for me. I also hit the CB in a 4 iron and that went 225 which is a lot further than I normally hit it. I also prefer the finish on the CB head and coupled with the C-taper the clubs look amazing. My results :- 4 - PW CB 712 with C-taper X flex 52 degree wedge C-taper X flex 56 / 60 degree C-taper S flex as no real reguirement for full shots. Standard / standard loft / tour velvet grips/ one layer tape Any questions just ask. Enjoyed my day. Thanks titleist
  8. I play mizuno mx25s and like you am moving over to titleist when I have a full fit at the English national fitting centre in April. One thing that I have noticed when doing a bit of research is that although mizuno irons have great feel and consistency they are one of the shorter hitting irons out of the top brands so it does not surprise me that you hit longer with the titleist irons. glad to hear about the extra distance as its one of the things that I am looking for

Hi Craig,I did see a distance gain but I think it is more to do with getting the right shaft. The lofts are identical through the set of Mp62s and titleist irons so the distance was not expected to be too different. My golfing buddy also tried the AP1s and he did see a distance gain to this current set of irons. I have had a change of mind since my last post and opted for the AP2 head. After my fitting I went to my pro for a lesson who is also a titleist stockist and again tried both the cb and AP2 head. Both felt soft however I seemd to be more consistent off grass with the AP2. I placed my order and they arrived yesterday with my 3 new wedges.Due to snow I took them to the golf range yesterday and I am very impressedwith both feel and consistency. Can't wait to take them too the course. Hope this helps.
