I'minterested in being fitted for new clubs but can't decide whether to get irons and woods or just go for the new AP2s and wait for the 912 wood range later in the year. I was wondering what the trigger is for having a "through the bag fitting"? If I was just getting irons and wedges would that still need a full fitting or is that just an iron fitting? Thanks

    Hi Paul,

The rule of thumb is to book a full fitting if you are looking to be fit for more than one category (i.e. irons, metals, wedges) - it avoids rushing and ensures that you get the optimum fit.

If you booked just an iron fit and there were time at the end of that to try some wedges, you can do that, but it would be a struggle to get irons and wedges fitted in an hour - hence we recommend the full fit.

    Hope this clarifies.

One follow up question. I've now spoken to a couple of retailers who claim to be titleist account holders but they have said I need to book by fitting directly with the national fitting centre. I thought only the account holder could book a fitting on your behalf? One of the retailers in question is Direct Golf so certainly a reputable company. Please can you clarify what the actual position is. Thanks

You are correct Phil - the account holder (e.g. Direct Golf) needs to book that appointment for you. They simply need to contact us on their normal number and select the option to book an appointment at a National Fitting Centre.

    Thanks

I now have my "through the bag" fitting booked at King Acre at a cost of £70. I have a couple of questions: 1) Do I pay the £70 on the day? 2) Is this deducted from the cost of the clubs I then go on to purchase? I've spoken to friends who've purchased Taylor Made and Mizuno clubs through their fitting centres and this is how it works for them but thought I'd make sure this was the same for Titleist. Thanks

    Hi Paul,

The payment is made to the pro or Titleist retailer that you made the appointment with - it is up to that pro / retailer how they charge for the appointment. Best thing to do is to discuss directly with them.

    Hope that this helps.

After an excellent experience at Kings Acre I'm now ready to replace every club in my bag except my putter! My fitting recommended a 10.5 d2 in setting c1 to give 9.75 deg loft and 57.75 lie angle (i think that was the setting anyway but need to double check with my pro tomorrow). After thinking about it over the weekend I'm a little concerned this wouldn't allow me to reduce the flight in future if necessary so I'm now considering going for the 9.5 d2 and putting it in b1. Am I right in thinking this should yield very similar results to the recommended option given the only difference in set up is 0.25 deg of loft?

    Hi Paul,

The fitter has recommended the spec he has because he felt it was the set up that provided the best results, most consistently for you over the spectrum of shots you hit. There is an option to move to a lower lofted driver in the B1 setting, which could help lower your launch and spin in the future - but you would be accounting for future changes that may not happen.

Additionally, you need to remember that moving from C1 to B1 in the lower loft will also close the clubface slightly - a change in dynamic loft. This could result in different performance according to your swing characteristics.

    Hope this helps.
