Without being fit properly does anyone have an idea what wedge shafts would be best for my swing. Currently play dg x100 in my ap2 irons but wonder if they would be too stiff in the wedges. Swing speed of 96 with the irons but dont feel as though i hit the wedges with that speed.
  2. Hi, In most cases players will drop down to S400 in the lofted wedges.  If you carry a gap wedge it's personal whether you put an S400 or X100 in, but if you play more soft shots then I would go S400, otherwise the X100 would provide more control should you want to load the shaft more. Dan

Interesting one as I am in the exact same situation as Brett; I have X100s in a new set of CBs and am about to replace my existing vokeys, which also have X100s in them. When I was custom fit the fitter said I could go down to the S400 in the wedges, however I have never hit that shaft and they never seem to be in the fitting carts (they weren't at Celtic Manor either). I know that S300s feel a touch soft for me, but i dont know whether the S400s will feel right. Is it weight or stiffness that is the difference between S400/X100? What would I actually notice? Thanks
  4. The standard shaft in Vokeys is an S200 wedge flex.  So an S300 will feel more stable than the standard shaft, but the S400 is a little heavier and stiffer than the S300 ( a couple of grammes ).  If the balance feels good from the S300 shaft, there is always the option of tipping it down 1/2" to make feel a bit firmer at impact, without changing the balance of a heavier shaft.

Thanks guys. Was prob goin to get fit anyway but that sort of fits in with what i was thinking. Currently have the s200 in my vokeys but wil prob go with the s400 and prob a x100 in the gap wedge but get it soft stepped. Sort of between the x100 and s400. Thanks again guys and good golfing.

I am in the opposite boat. I play R300 in my irons but need new wedges. I know standard Vokey wedge flex is stiff, but should I play R300 in my wedges too? What is the pros and cons of stiffer wedges? My current Vokeys with wedge flex I hit perfect! Also, how does wedge flex compare to KBS stiff wedge shafts?
