Unfortunately I'm not in a position to get custom fitted so I'm hoping to get some advice. I tend to hit the ball very high (over 15 degrees launch angle) with a high spin (over 3600rpm) with around 220 yards carry distance. My ball flight is a generally a fade. I would like to maximize distance off the tee. My swing speed averages 97mph. I was thinking about going with a 9.5 degree D2 with either a Tour AD DI 6 stiff, Oban Devotion 6 stiff or UST Proforce VTS Silver 6 stiff. I am open to any recommendations people may have. My current driver is a 10.5 degree Razr Hawk Tour with Aldila RIP Tour 60 stiff shaft. Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

I have spoken to a couple of our fitters about this and it really is very difficult to be able to offer you advice on the specific performance characteristics of shafts without seeing your swing and the ball flight.

From the shot description you provided (a fade, high spin, 220 yard carry from a 97mph swing speed), it could be that you are hitting the ball out of the heel (shaft could be too long) or you could have an open clubface at impact (in which case a stiffer shaft will not help).

A starting point may be 910 D2 9.5 deg, Project X 6.0 in the A2 setting and then compare that to results from other low launch, low spin shaft options.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Neil. There will be a club fitting day taking place relatively close to where I live so I will see if I can get to that. Thanks again. Paul

Hi Paul I also create a lot of driver spin and when I was custom fitted they me to a d3 with a grafalloy prolaunch red which is deeper face creates a lot less spin and improved my carry distance by nearly 30 yards Chris

Thanks Chris. Luckily I'm getting fitted this coming Thursday so I'm looking forward to that. Regards, Paul
