  1. Hi,

Please help, I have recently purchased a set of AP2 712 from a friend, unfortunately he cannot tell me 100% that they are authentic as he said they were purchased for him by someone.

I have a detailed look and certainly against the pictures on the Titleist website they look identical, I did not pay silly cheap money for them, in fact payed slightly more than I could because of condition etc.

What concerns me id there are no serial numbers on any club and no hologram.

    Please help me!

    Thanks

    Hi Jon,

It's very difficult to authenticate on the basis of a photograph. The reason for there being no serial number could be that they are a stock set of clubs, rather than a custom fitted set of clubs. From the fact that they were bought for your friend as a present, that could well be the case.

The holographic shaft band would have been present on a genuine set, but only on the six iron. It could be the case that the sticker was peeled off - perhaps your friend might recall if he did that or not.

The only other way to get the clubs authenticated would be to take them to your pro or nearest authorised Titleist stockist and try to arrange for them to return them to us for inspection.

    Best regards

Sounds to me like they were a demo set at one time. Demo set wouldn't have a hologram or serial number if I remember correctly. A stock set off the rack would at least have a 7 digit serial # on the hosel of the 6 iron.  Let me know what you find out!

    Hi Eric,

A stock set wouldn't have any serial number on the hosel, this would only be on a custom set. There wouldn't be any difference between a demo set and a stock set. Also, the serial number construction in Europe is different to that in the US.

    Hope this clarifies.

  6. Thanks for the replies guys.

I have since found out that they originally came from Maximus golf based in Devon, England.

I have emailed them and they have assured me they are genuine, but cant explain why they is no hologram.

Not sure what your thoughts are but I am thinking for piece of mind to send them to Titleist. Does anyone know how long this process would take? And also would I need to send through a Titleist stockist or could I just get my local pro shop to send them?

Thanks again for all your help

    Regards

    Jon
