  1. Hi TT members. Have recently changed my wedge set up from standard AP2 716 PW (45') SM5 50,54,60 to STD AP2 PW, SM6 52,58. This has allowed me to now include a 3 iron. which I prefer in the winter....Just wondered what set up others have?

So until about May last year I carried AP2 PW then 54 and 58.

I went to a Titleist fitting centre and had my gapping done professionally, ended up with 46, 52, 56, 60 SM6... totally chuffed with them so far and performance

I believe they say 160yds in is the 'scoring zone' where these shots make a direct impact on your scoring, so I now have more options closer to the flag, more known yardages for pin hunting and have ditched my hybrid and 3 iron in exchange for a 2 iron to make up my 14 clubs

They say your wedges should have between 4-6* gap to cover distances but if you can make your new set up work better for you then cool

My set up consists of std 714 PW 44*, SM5 50*, SM4 54*, & SM 60* which I put together myself for gapping.
My pro when we did some work on trackman was impressed with the gapping & said it was spot on & the best he'd seen without the use of a launch monitor

The rest of my Titleist bag set up is
(9.5/10.5* Driver (depending on links or parkland),
    15* 3Wood, 21* 3hybrid (loft set down at 20.25*)
std AP1 714 4-9 irons + Scotty Newport putter (cut down to 32 inch)

    Hope that helps

They say you should have no more than 4-6* between wedges

But having said that it's down to what you feel & if the distance gapping is right then cool Not everyone carries 4 wedges

    I bag the std 714 AP1 Pw 44*, SM5 50*, SM4 54*, SM 60*
    Which I arranged myself
When I went and did some work on launch monitor with my pro we did gap testing & he said it's spot on distances (10-15 yards between each) considering it was done by eye & he'd not seen anyone with gapping that good without the use of a launch monitor. This made me feel good

    Hope that helps

I've the standard Ap2 pw and then 52,56 and 60 sm5 wedges. Love those clubs.
  6. It's personal preference and some will prefer more wedges at the expense of long irons and hybrids.
For shorter hitters I'd suggest 3 hybrids would be better than loading up on wedges.
My preference is for 4 wedges with 10 yard gaps. I prefer to have more exact distance gapping at the lower end and manufacture shots with a hybrid and 4 iron for long approach shots.
Playing a longer course I may favour 3 wedges and an extra hybrid but at my own course this summer could even drop my 3 wood and go to 5 wedges.

I do have a very good selection of Vokey's from which to choose :)
    AP10 PW, SM6 48, 52, 60; SM5 54 and 56; plus holding on to my original Vokey 48, 52, 60 oil cans as can't bear to let them go.
