You have to learn to take something off the 2 Iron or longer club. Choke down, shape it or punch it.

You have to ask yourself what club will you sacrifice to put the 3 Iron in, a wedge? What if the wind is in against you or for you on the day?

Luckily I don't have that dilemma.

I guess the question is whether you’re dumping another club to accommodate the 3 iron Stuart? If not it’s a no-brainer but otherwise it’s weighing it up against the use of the dumped club.

Choke down one inch for every 10 yards you want to reduce your distance by.
I would go with the longer club, if the hole is into the breeze your sorted or if the wind is with you hit the 4 iron. A session on the range with just the 2 iron will build more confidence!!

I was the same for a number of years, I never carried a hybrid in my bag and found that I was short on a number of par 3s over 230 yards with my 4 iron.
Wee trip to Titleist Craigielaw law sorted me out.
Now I wouldn’t be without one.

I originally had a 58 degree wedge that was only used for bunkers if I needed to go over something but now I use it a lot inside 100 yards and on a lot of chip shots. I echo what the other guys say, learn different shots with each club and it only adds to your arsenal!

Slightly different for me, I’m undecided to put the hybrid away and go for a driving iron. Hit the hybrid well but lately I have been hitting my ap2’s clean. Could do with a little more length than my 4 iron.

Luckily the course I play utilizes all clubs, long front 9 and a short back 9.

I’d have to agree grip down and take a few yards off the longer clubs if needed.

Maybe worth seeing if you can lend a club and try it out see if that helps you decide.

Way too many variables for me there.
Is it 228 carry? What are ground conditions like? Usual wind direction? Where's the trouble around the green? I'd guess if you put a 3 iron in that your 2 or 4 would be the right club 2 out of 3 times.
If it's a consistent big gap in your bag then that's another question though...
