  1. Currently have a golf coaching package at Celtic Manor and didn’t know what to think prior to first lesson. But what a difference this made, so anyone who thinks lessons are not for them I would think twice. A little swing MOT never hurt anyone.

What’s your experiences guys would love to hear more......

  2. Ash,
I too am "Driving under Supervision" at present, having previously had the sum total of 4 lessons in 35 years!!
Frankly, it's a bit scary... Woods used to be my strong suit but they ain't at the minute. Perhaps I've improved my weaknesses rather than building on my strengths??? (The Norman Hunter Theory)
We started by stripping back to basics on hips v shoulders, then moved on to wrist positions.
I've a little black book where I've recorded the salient points & logged practice.
Went out on the course after two sessions & it felt quite strange... well, if I'm honest, very strange.
After further sessions, my irons are crisper and more controlled but we have not really delved into the main concern which has been woods, that's still to come but I feel some general benefits and think it will come right in the end.

  3. JT thanks for the reply, currently working on the downswing tend to be a little steep and also slightly off plane. For me it’s just a longer backswing to really open up the chest. After 1 hour hitting the sweet spot and also carrying 10 yards further.

Next step for me is to work out my distances again. But couldn’t agree more lessons have helped. Best of luck.

Couldn't agree more. I tend to get very flat in my backswing which makes me come over the top. Although I know I need to be more upright it just feels so alien to me that an occasional lesson just to back me in the right position really helps.

A lesson changed by game as like James H I got very flat in the backswing which was causing heel strikes. All this came to light after changing my irons to AP1 which were fitted by a reputable local fitter. I struggled on for best part of a year trying to fix this myself before getting a spot with Golf Monthly and one of their Top 25 Coaches at The London Club in 2016.

The changes at the top of the backswing were definitely different if not weird at first. Pity that the coach is a too far away for regular lessons.

The article is on the wall above my desk to remind me...

Lessons are an essential if you want to make the most of your swing! If you go prepared to work on the advice you are given, it will only make you better.
I think that it is key to understand that there is no real magic fix that can be applied, it will take work. But persevere and you will get the results.
It will be all the quicker if you take the time to learn about the impact factors and ball flight characteristics and get an understanding about "why" applicable to your game and the shots you hit.
Perhaps I'm lucky in that my son is PGA and whilst he was qualifying I read through most of his course material, so have a much better idea about what I'm doing (sometimes!)

I totally agree. I've been out the game for a 5 months due to the birth of my son.

As soon as I go back the first thing I will do is book a lesson just to get the basics going again and then Once every 6 weeks for a refresh. Best of luck TT members
