Hi Guys, So it's not a joke, April 1st. Titleist launched this week their Titleist TS 4 models out on tour.

To give you a closer look:

    mygolfspy.com/.../

Looking forward to see your comments. The production line / available in stores are in the UK: JUNE 2019.

Designed to be a spin killer, the TS4 is for the guy looking to…you guessed it, cut spin. The conventional wisdom is that small, sub-460cc designs are for better players seeking enhanced workability. And while that’s certainly one category of potential TS4 player, it’s not the only one.

    Happy swings,

    Bart

Some are getting themselves in a right tizzy about it when in all probability a very small fraction of players will fit said head. People really need to understand about spin, I'm no expert and don't pretend to be but I watch and listen to enough people who do know what they are talking about.

Gotta admit...thought sure it was an April Fools Joke.
  4. Titleist seem less predictable over driver releases of late - Used to be October, now it seems it could be anytime...
As Stuart points out, not sure that the market sector that this is aimed at amounts to significant volume but it hits the current TS price point.

  6. Hi Team Titleist,

We've had a few questions come in in regards to the TS4 release that I wanted to answer here.

This is not a new driver replacing the TS2/TS3, it is an extension of the current TS line up as we identified a small number of players that needed lower spin than was possible with the TS3. We anticipate most players to fit into the TS2 or the TS3 for optimum launch and spin, but for that niche group of players that needed even lower spin, now we have an option - TS4.

If you feel that you would be better suited to TS4 as opposed to your TS3 or TS2 then please feel free to attend a Titleist Thursday or the National Fitting Centre when we have the heads (date TBA) and compare the two. If you were fitted into your TS2/TS3 then chances are the TS4 will not suit you.

If you have any questions let me know.

    Kind regards
    Luke

    Hi guys,
Just want to drop in again. Some of you asked if I could take some balls down range with it on tour.
As mentioned in earlier post I'm retired and only doing some product reviews online with my Podcast. So in that way I need to let you down.

But.... I made some phone calls... to the tour staff.
As Luke allready clearified I will try to add some more detailed info as the request come in if I wanted to share some inside tour pics etc. so I will do my best.

Oke so let's go back in time. Release of the TS2 & TS3. When hitting both drivers I hitted the TS2 better but the sound of the TS3 was so much nicer. But indeed I find out the ball spin, launch angle and total driving distance not adding up to my custom 917 driver. So some tour feedback from the people I spoke:

The TS2 & 3 are doing very well on tour and so with a group of amateurs. However there is always that tiny little group of people. Who want to maximum out their game and demand high standards of their equipment.
The TS4 gravitypoint is placed very low and almost to the front end of the club face to produce less spin during take-off.
Ideal is the TS4 for high swing speed players who have difficulty controlling the spin off the tee.

The TS4 has only 340 cc driver face which makes the face smaller compared with the TS2 & TS3. In fact it's 5mm difference that the titanium crown is placed forward in the face. And that is a lot!
Some interesting feedback was that drivers with extreme low spin you loose some stability in MOI. But players who are consistent off the tee with high swing speeds shouldn't find any trouble in hitting this.

Also interesting is the thickness of the club face separated over the face to generate more ball speed. (each driver is checked on that trampoline-effect) to hit it to the max. limits.

Now comes the crazy stuff in my opinion. Titleist REALLY? .......16 loft/lie options?
Now for me that is way too much. It has options like, draw, face, high, low etc. but again for that type of shot shape players.... I have an dare for you... I can hit that too with my umbrella (Olazabal used to say this to me)...

Now the driver comes out in june but expected to be in stores on 26th july.
Good to know without extra payment it gives you the option on 4 different shafts. (finally got ride of the stock shafts without upcharge).

    1. Even Flow T1100 White 65 (low launch angle and low spin)
    2. HZRDUS Smoke Black 60 (Low/Mid launch angle and low spin)
    3. Tensei AV Series Blue 55 ( mid launch and mid spin)
    4. Kuro Kage Black Dual Core 50 (high launch angle and avg. spin)

    Retail price: 549,- euro's.

I think during the Open & other links course tournaments you will see this is some players bags. But honestly... the TS3 is still the bomber #1 on tour ! And yes.... they beat TM with that!

At last I want to say thank you, throughout this forum I received a lot of positive feedback of sharing inside the tour experience, roadtrips and the latest greatest. It makes me smile and driven to share more.

Happy swings & if anyone if up for some golf. ?!

    Happy swings,

    Bart

    Bart,

    Thanks for the background.

With that 16 degree loft it smacks of the TM 'loft up' campaign of the original low spin driver the SLDR.

Like you I couldn't improve on my fitter 917D with the TS2 or 3 but I don't think my swing speed would be fast enough for the TS4, however if I get the chance I'll give it a try.

16 loft and lie OPTIONS not a 16 deg loft.

The options ceme from the surefit hosel. I don't think that's any different to the TS2 and TS3. Both the TS3 and TS4 are available in 8.5 / 9.5 / 10.5 deg lofts, the extended range of options comes from the surfeit hosel.

Very interesting, I’ll be at a Titleist fitting at my club next month so I’m going to give the TS2 and TS3 another go in different shafts.
  11. I went for a TS fitting and came away with the same 913D3 I walked in with. Insufficient gains to justify the spend. As much as I'd love a new toy...…………..maybe next time.
  12. Got a Titleist Thursday fitting on May 9th at London Golf Club. Going to try TS2/3/4 and see what happens......M4 has to go!
  13. Don’t see the issue when it’s another Gre at option of driver other brands throw more out then titleist so no big deal everyone just needs to chill and ifvtbe ts4 fits your game then it’s a bonus
