I am currently gaming the TS3 10.5 degree And was wondering has anyone shortened the shaft of there driver and if so did it work for you or not as considering shortening mine to 3 wood length to get more consistency

    Mallow,

    Hi John,
I tried it during a fitting and found the smash factor improved and was consistently better which improved distance and accuracy. Swing speed was down a little but overall distance was ok or even up slightly because of the improved strike. I found it requires testing to find the optimum length and feel. Hope this helps.
  3. I cut nearly two inches off mine a couple of years ago. Best thing I did. Straighter and just as far, easier to hit the ball on the sweet spot. However, it may not suit everyone. Try gripping it down a bit at a time to see if it helps. Swing weight, lie etc. do get altered due to this, but one inch is really no big deal.

    Morning John,

I personally don't have a shorter driver shaft. However, I play with two guys who in the last couple of months have shortened the driver & have both agree'd they have improved accuracy & consistency, & enjoy playing out of the fairways more.

I’m also TS3 10.5. I was fitted with .5 inch shorter than standard. Improved dispersion was evident at fitting and have started to see improvements on the course.
With the clear benefits of a good fitting I wouldn’t change anything without seeking advice and being able to test (would be better if you have a chance to try a shorter shaft before changing yours)

The Titleist 9 series shaft is shorter than the TS shaft length

I swapped mine about and it improved fairways being found

I shortened my driver 1” and now find the fairways a lot more often. Never changed the weight and still getting good distance. I now play the yellow ProV1.
  8. Hi John - I had a TS3 driver and fairway wood fitting recently with Chris at London Club. All results when I tried -0.5" shorter shaft were significantly better than when the standard length was used. As JCrowder-Barton said above regarding swing weight, i completely agree with, as for me with the shorter shaft length, I had +2grammes in each head and it made a massive difference.
Good luck and try to try out on a demo shaft at a golf range?
