Wedge shaft advice

    Hi all, I am after losing all confidence on my vokey 56° when I need to hit it full on, approx 85 yards. I currently have the stock wedge flex shaft in it and standard lie. I also carry a 50° but ordered it through my local pro direct from Titleist with project x 6.5 rifle shaft 1 degree flat, same set up as my 718 AP2's. I have no issue with this and find it very accurate from 115 yards in. My 60° has the standard wedge flex shaft but I seem to hit this perfectly, mainly due to the fact I hit it with a 3/4 swing, kinda punch shot from 65 yards in. When I was purchasing the 56° i decided to go with the standard shaft because I wanted the weaker shaft to allow me to hit a variety of shots, 3/4 swing, punch, bunker etc. My question is should I go for the project x 6.5 to benefit my full on shot with the 56° or go for a project x 6.0 to allow me hit various shots with it or am I thinking too much about it and just hit the range and get comfortable with it again!!     Been thinking the same thing have amt red reg in my irons had a vokey 50 changed but stayed with my 48 from the set around my are sm7 are £100 in the sale be interesting to see what plus and minus there are I can’t see many around the short game as the shaft shouldn’t impact that much? Chipping and flop shots but I appreciate gapping for boys that get their wedges out for full shots might get a benefit?Where are our technical boys?

    What is your bad shot with the 56 and what grind is it? Were you fitted for it?

    Good morning Tom, I wasn't custom fit for the wedges unlike all my other clubs where I was custom fit. I did do a lot of research before selecting the wedges and opted for the 50° F 08, 56 ° S 10 and 60° M 08. I went for the S grind in the 56° because I like to use it for a jump in run shot around the green and liked the fact it is a square faced impact club.
    My bad shot is when I need to hit it 90 to 100% around 75 to 85 yards. It doesn't happen all the time but when I hit it bad it's like a duff shot, comes out heavy from the club face and travels around 60 yards. I looked at my club position on impact and it seems fine, hands do tend to be a bit too far ahead on occasion.
    As I use a stiff shaft from 4 to 50° am I better off putting a stiffer shaft in the 56°?

    When I was fitted for SM7's it was very apparent that the grind affected full shots more than the chip and runs as there's more interaction with the turf, so this could be something you need to consider.

    As always consult the experts at a #TitleistThursday as they can get you into the right grinds and shafts.

    On the subject of grips I use the Golf Pride +4 on my wedges as you can grip down the shaft with similar feeling. I picked this up from a fellow TT member at the fitting.

    My take is, in wedge of 56 where not all are full shots I'd suggest you'd need to be very skilled to notice the difference in flex and the very fact you are on here asking for advice tells me you may not be very skilled, just saying.

    Maybe try a 6.0 and see how you like the feel of it or not. That way you can test each one and see what works. At the end of the day the only way to know is test.

    After this I'd keep all the shafts the same in wedge's P Dog. Should help give more confidence with all shafts been the same. Stops the mental block. This is what I found. When I got fitted I was told to go a 1/2 to full flex down for them to feel a bit softer. Mine are KBS tour stiff so a bit stiffer then normal. Flight is slightly lower but that's the way I want it.

    I currently have Lamkin Grips but trying out 3 other single grips on different clubs to see what I like. Not ideal but after two rounds out of my head's. Point of this part of the post is I needed to feel on course test before buying new grips
