I would definitely recommend going and getting one. The full fitting that I had at the performance centre in Cambridge was extremely comprehensive and detailed. Since then it has brought my game on significantly and it's something I would recommend to everyone is go get fitted

Go for some lessons first to put you on the right track.
Then get fitted when you’re comfortable(consistent)

I would always recommend getting a fitting especially if buying new and spending a fair amount of money.

Gaaary's right - You need to get yourself organised so you know what you're looking for.
However, if you haven't got clubs, you can't have lessons so I assume you have something to be going on with...
When You're happy, get fitted - The fitting tailors the club lie to your height and the shaft to your swing speed which you can't do properly buying off the shelf unless you are completely average and dead lucky!!
