    Hi There TT Members

    Some advice needed.

Just purchased a Set of 718 AP2 4-PW with AMT White Shafts.

I see there is a 50* wedge available. Have any of you tried this wedge?

I have a SM6 50, 56 and 60 and am looking at attending a Vokey day on the 23rd (subject to COVID 19 allowing). was thinking about matching the 50 to the set and then looking ay going 54,60 or 56,60 in sm8 when I get advice from the fitters.

Whats peoples thoughts/experiences on this wedge?

    Regards

    Ian

  2. Ian,
    I've got 718 AP2's in my bag.
Thought about the 50* AP2 but went for the SM7 50* in the end.
Not much difference in the price but more options in the bounce and grind of the Vokeys.
As far as wedges go, after the AP2 PW, I go Vokey SM7's in Brushed Steel 50*(F grind 8* bounce) 56* (M grind 8* bounce) 62* (M grind 8* bounce). I'd suggest a wedge fitting as personally, I might go up to 12* bounce on the 50 next time.

Funny, I never thought I'd ever unashamedly write "Bounce & Grind" in polite company.....

    Lol.

    Thanks JT.

Have seen a second hand one. May give it a try and see what happens

Like you thinking about the higher bounce 50*. Especially with the soft conditions we have right now.

“Bounce is your Friend” I have heard so many times I should start believing it.
  4. Ian,

I currently play the original 2008 AP 1s which has a 50* gap wedge that has 7* of bounce. Since it is a set wedge I assume that there is no "grind" involved but since it has a full sole I assume that it would be close to a F grind.

I like the set wedge in the 50* because I use it mostly for full shots, so having a sole and grind that can be changed for the particular shot is something I don't do. If I do use it for bump and runs around the green, the shot is generally a straight-a-way chip with nothing fancy involved.

Obviously you should get fitted for the conditions you play most often, but if you like to open or close the face for your shot, then I would go for the Vokey as it gives you the most options.

Good luck and have fun in the try-out process.
