Angle of Attack

TrackMan® defines Angle of Attack as the vertical direction of the club head’s geometric center movement at the time of maximum compression of the golf ball.

Shots hit off the ground typically require a negative (descending) attack angle in order to optimize trajectory.

Assuming a golfer is using a properly fit driver, maximizing distance on shots where the ball is teed up typically requires a positive (ascending) attack angle.
