As I said, my choice would be East Lake GC. TPC Sugarloaf, which was amazing, is a close second. Third for me would be the Mountain View course at cally Gardens where the PGA TOUR used to play the Buick Challenge.

I'm fortunate to live in Oregon so I have the Bandon Dunes courses of Pacific, Bandon Trails, Bandon Dunes etc.  All are different and fun to play.  It's been a few years since my last visit and it's time to get the boys together and have some fun.  I still think it's amazing we have these great golf courses in Oregon, true gems.

Any course at Bandon Dunes, but my favorites are Pacific or Old Mac. Got to play Old mac right after it opened on my honeymoon!

Pinehurst #2 gets my vote.  It was the most "pure" course I've ever played.  Obviously the greens are very tricky, but the course would reward good shots and punish bad shots.  I left there feeling like I shot the score I earned.

Most Known and best condition: Pinehurst #2. Pebble Beach Golf Links was pretty close on both counts. The best course? Bethpage Black, Pinehurst #4 & #2, all are demanding yet, not tricked up. Wolf Creek in Mesquite NV is the "coolest" course I've played. The Journey at Pechanga is very close and very cool.


 

Have played Harbor Town a couple of times during vacation. Really a challenging course, you don't realize how small the greens are until you're 100 yards out and only have 5 yards on each side of the flag to work with. :)

The best course I have played is " The Kings Course" at  Glen Eagles in Scotland . Everything about the place shouts CLASS ! 

The single best course that I have ever played on in terms of "quality" is unfortunately not known in North America or Europe for that matter. It is a resort and Country Club course in Japan -- Amagi Nikatsu -- near Shuzenji, Japan. It was carved out on a plateau near Shuzenji, which is about a 3 hour drive south of Tokyo (1- hour by the "bullet train").

The course was incredible - the layout was incredible, the greens were large and receptive, but with various "bumps" and multi-tiered so as to present some good challenges that protect Par.

The rough -- was immaculate -- whenever I strayed off the fairways, (which luckily was not too often), I had to pick my ball up and return it closer to the fairway as the "rough" was so "sculpted" and manicured! There were bonsai trees lining the fairways with wonderful gardens. I could not bring myself to play my ball from them even though they were in the rough and not marked as being free drop areas or out of bounds, etc.

The course also had "automated" power carts that were GPS controlled and "drove" themselves along designated pathways -- which was helpful given that there were some narrow cart paths carved out of the side of the hills!

The other main challenge for me was the different grasses that they used for the fairways and greens. The greens were bent grass so I was fortunate there as I was used to bent grass greens, but the fairway grass was a type of Korean grass that was like tiny wires -- it was so different for me to play off, having grown up in the PAcific Northwest/West Coast of Canada were we usually have POA grass or rye crosses, etc. for fairway grass!

All in all it was an incredible experience!

I guess I haven't played too many really nice courses.  

But I was on vacation in Colombia and got a chance to go to a private country club down there, the actual course was definitely better than most I have played and it was beautiful but what makes it my favorite is how they treated me.  From the caddy being awesome, to the post game meal being as I walked off the 18th and massage after that.

I really would hate to say that I have one favorite  or best course. I have been lucky enough to play in many places around the world and on some wonderful tracks.

The Centenary Course  at Gleneagles - more course than most of us can handle!

The Country Club in Brookline MA - Nothing more needs to be said

New South Wales in AUS - Some of the best views anywhere in the world

Banff Springs in Canada - Great location, great course

there are probably 300+ that I can say I could play on a regular basis and not be bored.

Great memories come flooding back to me!

I'd have to go with Kiawah Island Ocean Course.  It's super hard, beautiful, and a lot of fun. The caddy was awesome and really helped my game.

A close second is Kapalua- a great time and also super gorgeous.  It's one of those courses you could play forever and just enjoy yourself.

The University of Michigan GC is also a gem and holds a special place in my heart. I don't think I could ever get sick of this place.  If Michigan was more "year round" this would be a number 1.

On the gulf coast , we play a lot of flat courses. 

And generally when you gave Les you vacation at beaches. Ughhh. 

So when I finally convinced the kids that The Rocky Mountains would be a great trip. 

I know it's not much but the views playing golf  in Colorado will turn you into a "Slow" player. I'm sure the locals get sick of guys like me standing there just looking in awe of its magnitude. 

Thats is why I loved The Raven at Three Peaks.

Harbour Town. 

I feel the best public course I have played is the TPC Stadium Course in Scottsdale AZ.  Obviously, there are so many great courses over the years we have all played but for some reason this one keeps bringing me back!

I have been lucky enough to play The Sanctuary just outside Castle Rock in Colorado, 3 years in a row during an annual Army Appreciation Day. 

Private course for me would be Oak Hill East. Anything you could possibly think of was already taking care of. There simply was not a blade of grass out of place it was truly breath taking.

Public course for me would have to be Boulder Creek near Cleveland Ohio. Might be that well known but it's a fantastic track.

This is a difficult question because I've been fortunate enough to play some pretty incredible courses but I would say Pacific Dunes at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. If you love golf you must make going to Bandon Dunes a priority, however; my favorite destination on the planet is Pinehurst, NC. Just driving through Pinehurst makes my eyes water. 

I think the most well known course I've played to date is The Brabazon course at The Belfry. But in the last year I've been lucky enough to play a few of the Top 100 ranked courses in the UK: The Astbury, The Manor House (Castle Combe), St George's Hill and Bowood.

Harbor Town is the best course I've ever played.

The Old Course when I was 11 years old.  We lived in England in the 80's and dad took me golfing with him.  It was my first round EVER and he bought my first set of clubs there.

I shot 139 but it is easily the one round of golf I remember completely, 30 years later.....

The best course I have played is Granite Links in Quincy, MA. We played the Granite and Quincy 9's.
