    Back on January 18th I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Pancreatic Cancer and I never thought in a million years I would ever get cancer. I was defiantly shocked, so I put everything in Gods Hands to help me get through this.

    Then on February 1st I had a Whipple Procedure to remove the cancer. A Whipple Procedure is where they remove the head of your pancreas, part of your bile duct tube, your gallbladder and part of your lower intestines. This is a tough surgery and a tough recovery. I knew if I wanted to play golf again soon, I would have to put in the work to be able to do so.

    After about 3 weeks I started to get more active and I was chipping and pitching golf balls with my dog outside. Then on the 43rd day after surgery I was able to get out and play 9 holes with my Titleist Clubs. I shot a 43 with the New ProV1 on that day last week. I was a little sore after that round, but it was well worth it.

    Best of luck with it going forward. Mom had the same procedure done a long time ago but the cancer was super aggressive and spread way too much. I just had my right cancerous kidney removed last year and so far, am still clean. All we can do is catch it as early as possible and fight the hard fight. Stay strong!

    I'm very sorry for your loss, I was very lucky and blessed to catch it early. I woke up one morning and my urine was dark orange almost brown. that was caused by a blockage in the bile duct tube from my liver to my pancreas. The next thing I know I'm having surgery to remove the cancer. I hope your surgery went well and that you are recovering quickly

    Hi Gary,

    Great news! I have a friend at a local club who is now almost 2 years free after surgery in Boston for stage 3 pancreatic. He is amazing and playing back at his prior level (about 13) after building himself back up to strength and endurance.

    We need more success stories like his and yours, so keep up the fight and best wishes to you and yours!

    I have a very similar story. Back in August, I was diagnosed with AML (blood cancer). After rounds of Chemo, many bumps in the road, they had me ready for a stem cell transplant. Ironically, on January 18, They did the stem cell transplant. Still waiting to see how successful it was.
    What got me through the darker days, was knowing with Gods help, and all the good people around me, I would be out on the course again with my full set of Titleist, enjoying the game we love. I still have a way to go, but I have been putting, chipping and working on some full swings.
    I wish you all the luck in the world returning to your former self. This response was to let you know that you are not alone.
    Sounds corny, but I think Rocky said it best, "It's not how hard you get hit, but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward"
