  1. I used to prefer to play mid to late afternoons because I like to walk and I like to play solo.

However, this past year, I started playing a different course on a regular basis which has a great walking "culture" in general which is great but it's a very popular course so now I like to get out as early as possible to avoid the 5+ hour rounds. I'll go off at 7am if I can. I don't get to play solo anymore but that's fine - I actually enjoy getting paired up. I have found that the early morning tee times by and large are taken up by more "dedicated" golfers (for lack of a better word) and I like to play with that crowd.

I prefer the early morning rounds, typically I can finish before the winds start to get in the 15-25 mph range.

But I work nights so evenings really don't work.

The weekends I don't play because our courses will put small groups together to make 5somes and that kills a round of golf.
So, I play 18 before work during the week. The ones on the course are the ones that understand golf and how to keep pace of play fluid.

Huge fan of twilight. Most times not busy, and usually a tad cooler. Love it. At my home course the wildlife starts to come alive and you can see a number of interesting things.

Early morning or late afternoon are the favorites, but honestly,,,,,,,,,,,anytime I'm on course is good by me.

My favorite is first on the tee box. Something about the fresh dew. Although in the midwest, where the sun is up until 10:30 PM, I don't mind playing after work at the local country club, it's never crowded and even if it is, you can start on any hole to avoid waiting.
  6. I don't mind playing at anytime. As long as I'm playing

Honestly, because I live in Southeast Idaho and it's currently -4 as I'm writing this... I love playing any time I can!

Its mid summer here at the moment and ive been getting in a few 6am rounds. playing solo without rushing it normally sees me home around 9am and dont miss any family time. The same time during the week lets me get 9 holes in before work.
  9. Our foursome has an early time every Sunday morning. Varies due to the amount of daylight but anywhere from 7-9 throughout the season. Love early golf and beating the crowds. Of course, if I HAVE to play in the afternoon, that is totally acceptable.

Waiting until I retire next year to join the Tuesday men's league, mid-morning tee times.

Love the standing tee time with my group, but the morning chill rules my choices- we pick the warmer times of the day.
  11. While I am usually an early morning get out and play there is something special about late afternoon golf in the Northeast. Sun is going down, it's starting to cool off in the summer, the wind is down and it just feels special to be out at that time.

Here along the coast we usually get to play the year round. Temps normally in the 50's and 60's this time of the year. We had a snow storm (for us) come thru Tuesday morning and golf courses are still closed and may open tomorrow afternoon or Monday. A lot of ice.
These 20's and 30's killing us. Last time this happened was in January 2018. Maybe we can back to normal next week at 8am.

As much as I love meeting new people on the course, there’s nothing walking the course by myself first thing on an early summer morning.
