Thanks for sending me the test balls which I used today in a practice round. The main area I noticed some diference was on and around the green. The black ball just felt softer off the club/putter and gave me a bit more confidence when hitting it. Off the tee and fairway I didn't notice that much difference. Would choose the black ball for the reasons given but enjoyed playing with both.

Hi,
Thanks for my early Christmas present, I used the Black numbered ball yesterday and it felt great, different from my normal NXT......what are they???

? I assume these prototypes are not approved for competition play?
? I assume the colour numbers correspond to current ProV1 balls? Red PV1X, Black PV1
? I assume difference is in the cover/dimple sizes and patterns?
I played Red on Monday in cold, dry windy conditions:-
Good distance from centered stike.
Significant impact on distance with fades and draws
Firm feel around green and off putter
Durable cover
I played Black on Friday in similar conditions:-
Similar distance from centered stike.
Minimal impact on distance with fades and draws (10-15% more distance than Red)
Soft feel around green and off putter. Possibly more spin on approach shots than Red
Less durable cover

Hi Les,
Thanks for your questions. You are correct that these cannot be used in competitions as they are prototypes and so not approved by the R&A. At this stage we would just like you to continue feeding back your comments and observations to help us with our validation process.

Chris

Many thanks for the balls - great to have the chance to input into this
Tried the black ball to start with and feel that it is softer to putt with than the NXT Tour and better distance as overshot a few times would suggest possibly 10 yds better.
Will give the red a go over the weekend and then a bit of comparison over a few holes when it is quiet and can hit a few extra shots

Just received my test balls this morning, I will try them as soon as possible and post my findings. Thanks Team Titleist.

Hi played with the Black numbered test balls this morning . Really impressed with the flight on well struck shots ball hung in the air well. The ground was frosty so it was difficult to assess the stopping properties on the short irons but a couple of mid irons pulled up nicely . The finish was nice and bright and after playing more than 9 holes appeared to be very durable - a big plus. On the green the ball rolled out well and had a really soft but progressive feel - I play with a metal faced O and the amount of feedback I was getting was impressive. Thanks for the oppertunity to try these out I will be back in touch when I have tried the reds!

Thanks for the test golf balls. So far played with the black numbered ones.
Lovely feel off the face - putter, wedges and driver. Very good distance. Out drove my buddies today by 40 yards vs normal NXT tour ball..
Course conditions wet so unable to assess spin level.
Looking forward to trying the other pack.
Best

Tried the test balls today. Ball 1: flew off the toe on hole 1 tee and into a bush. Ball 2: disappeared under some leaves. Ball 3: disappeared into deep rough. Not the best round golf! However when the ball was on the course it performed ok. Felt hard to touch and was quick off the face when putting. I wouldn't say they improved my game, prefer a softer feel ball. Winter not the best time to test them as we played off winter fairway mats and there was a bit of frost on the greens.

[Many thanks. Tried the balsl today and had my best round in a couple of months. Best iron shots for distance and accuracy all year. Great feel from iron shots and ball seemed to go higher and gave me a lot of confidence with my shots. Great for short wedge shots close to the green. Felt really good when I caught a good driver shot. Putting was a joy. Really like these balls as they definitely seemed to suit my game and gave me a lot of confidence.]

Many thanks for the test balls. After 5 games playing with both black and red I have increased distance with both; short game (pitching and chipping) seems better suited to the red; both balls respond well with the putter. Playing early afternoon means that there is a slight rise in temperature but the time of year is perhaps not the best to get a realistic feel for the intended performance. Had I received them earlier I was golfing in the Murcia region of Spain up to the beginning of the month in mid 20's temps. What I would give to be playing in those temps again!!. Will keep testing and let you know if I have any other comments.
Kind regards

Both balls felt nice off the driver with good distance. The drive flight had little movement in the air. I thought these golf balls performed very similar to the NXT Tour and NXT Tour S as far as sound and flight off the tee.
Distance on the red numbered ball could have been up to 10 yards more although the ground was soft with little roll.
Chipping around the green the red numbered ball was soft and felt good. On putting, the red numbered ball again felt soft and came off the head with a nice sound. The red numbered ball felt nicer off the putter, a softer feel with less noise than the black numbered ball.
After 18 holes both golf balls were in good condition. I will use the same next week to see how the red numbered ball performs.
Personally I felt these prototype balls were similar the NXT Tour and Tour S and the red numbered ball played to me like the NXT Tour S as it seemed to provide a softer compression feel.
Course played was the Fifth Oldest, The Royal Musselburgh

Please leave all feedback here... Thanks David TT Hi guys, I received to my surprise two sleeves of test ball, red numbers and black numbers, thank you Titleist, it's so nice to be asked. Tried the red numbers today, it flew straight and well, very solid feel, quite soft not quite so much spin. The ball did not mark and and felt very good. I will try the black numbers next time.

Thanks for the test golf balls. Played on Friday with one. First impression was how nice and bright they are. They seemed to come of the club head nicely, felt a little soft but I liked that. Putting was difficult, could be the greens are not at their best, but the ball seemed to roll further than my usual ball. Will try out again tomorrow! keep producing good balls Will

I used these balls this morning, greens were soft and fairways were in perfect condition. When I tee'd of with a driver or wood I struggled to feel how far it had gone when the ball contacted the club, with irons I felt everything i could shape the ball easily and judge distance brilliantly! wedges around greens were perfect, I could get a good amount of doing to stop the ball dead if I so wanted to. Putting was excellent aswell, nice and soft off the club face! Overall a very good golf balls for control if you desire good control around greens and approaches!

Thanks to Team Titleist for the pair of white sleeves with red and black numbered golf balls.
Played with the balls yesterday . Links golf course, approx 6 degrees and sunny , just a slight breeze for a links.
Played off competition tees and the course was playing full length with not much roll.
Teed off first 9 using RED numbered ball. The ball gave a good down wind flight and had some roll on fairway. The approach was down hill so did not experience a drop and stop but got a roll to back of green.
The overall feel of the ball was that of good flight and playability suitable for my handicap range. The ball penetrated into wind shots with little loss of distance.
BLACK number used on the back 9 with very similar playability. Good down breeze carry and into wind penetration.
There was the same roll on the greens and a true putt. Coming out of bunkers there was very little scuffing on the ball, as at the end of the nine holes played with each ball.
For me the BLACK ball seemed softer off the club face for woods and irons. The RED ball still gave a very satisfying feeling off both woods and irons but felt just a tad harder. This did not detract from a good playing experience . Because of the harder feel the perception was the RED ball flew further and penetrated the wind better, but on balance the distances were pretty much the same.
So here we have two balls that give good carry and playability with both woods and irons and a very good feel off the putter.

Received my package with 6 balls, and after trying them on the course I preferred the red numbered balls to the black ones.
They flew straight, with good control using short irons, and felt good off the Putter.
