Got a sleeve of 3 new test balls, with red numbering, so I'm guessing the new prospective Pro V1X - see picture below.
What a lovely ball. Definitely noticed some increased distance when using driver and 3-wood. The ball's skin feels a bit firmer and did not mark or scuff as easily as previous models, either off the wedges or the occasional tree!
However, I was still able to get backspin off my 3-iron (albeit into the wind and landing on a soft green), so the control and responsiveness still appears to be there. It is difficult to be sure while playing in autumn/winter conditions and am saving one ball for when abroad and in the sunshine (sometime soon hopefully).
Can't fault the ball and so a big thumbs up from me. Thanks for sending to me Team Titleist and keep them coming!

Firstly thank you for the opportunity to test the new PROV1 golf balls. On my first round with these balls I found that I was achieving greater distance on my drives. My approach shots to the green from wedge distance stopped after one bounce ( the greens were a little soft due to the wet conditions ) so it was difficult to tell if this was the result of the new ball. The ball was in great condition after 18 holes which was surprising as I made some contact with trees on more that one occasion. Overall the ball did seem to improve my game and they stayed in great condition. I will certainly be trying the PROV1 on a more regular basis, which is a surprise to me as I have always been a diehard PROV1X man.

I waited for week of sunshine to test these new Pro V1x balls as the temperature had dropped too low for me to effectively compare them to this years ball. A week in Spain was ideal, and although I didn't have any technology to measure the results, but made a number of direct comparisons with the three test balls and three current Pro V1x balls.
putting was similar with both balls, although I did like the slightly lower pitch of the new ball compared to the slightly higher png of the current ball.
Chipping with the new ball wasn't quite as grabby with the test ball as the current. This was tried with both dry and dewy early morning conditions and using three different clubs to vary the type of chip. This is not to say it wasn't a great feel, as it was, and soon had the new test balls consistently leaving just a couple of feet to finish off.
From twenty to forty yards, again, the new ball was lacking a little crab compared to the current ball, but to a slightly lesser degree than the the shorter chip. For a full wedge in, there was again a little less difference between the two balls, with the test ball having a little more consistency in control with regard to spin. Whereas the current ball would spin back between one to seven feet, the new test ball moved between one to three feet for the same range of approach shots.
Distance off the tee was comparable although I did feel the test ball gave a slightly lower flight after a couple of rounds golf hitting both. The sound off the driver was also very pleasing, with a slightly lower and solid sound. There was no disernable difference in the performance from my irons, although it did seem the new ball was a little more stable in cross winds; however I don't think this was tested sufficiently to be credible.
The one area where the new test ball was a distinctive improvement was in the cover. After 18 holes, there was barely a Mark on the new ball, whereas the current Pro V1x showed signs of groove cutting in four or five areas.
Overall though, with little difference in performance, the newer test ball would appear to offer better value, assuming a similar price, as it would no doubly last for a few rounds more than the current performance ball.

Thanks for pack of balls!!!! On first try ball felt good for my game. I normally play PROV1s and the test ball did not feel any different. With our greens in their winter condition it is difficult to judge how it will perform on summer conditions.I will be retaining one to try again next early summer.
Interestingly I found another "test" ball in the rough at our 12th on the first day after I had received mine from you so unfortunately a fellow member at Bothwell Castle G C had only a 12 hole test with one of his. My gain!! I have tried his as well.
Kind regards,
Nicol.

Thank you for asking me to participate in the testing of the new ball - have so far played 3 rounds - lost one of the balls when hitting straight into the sun! I found my first round a little strange - it was a cold day and the ball seemed quite solid and didn't seem to fly that far. However subsequent rounds ball has flown well, great feel, durable and I like putting with it, a nice feel. Happy to do more testing at any time!!

Philip Marmagh,
HI,
I used my test prototypes last weekend, i usually play with the prov1x and found the test ball firmer off the club face with both driver and putter. would like to highlight the great feel when putting.
Iron shots i felt the same control as the prov1x with similar ball flight.
overall i found improvements with the driver and green control with putting and chipping
thanks again for the opportunity for testing

I really enjoyed testing the new balls, so thanks for the opportunity to do so. I really liked them, good distance and stopped well around the greens. The balls lasted well too - all in all, can I have some more please? Thanks keith s

Have used all three test balls and was really pleased with the quality and performance. They appear to be similar to the Pro V1x I usually use.
They have stood up to the recent poor weather without too much dis-colouration or scuffing.
I knocked one into a tree and noticed that a yellow scuff mark was quite evident and I was surprised that I was unable to clean it off.Ball kept its shape and did not affect its flight or performance.
Discovered that they do not float!!! when I had an issue with an island green. Not the balls fault it was driver error.
Distance and flight shape are good and they putt really well. I like the sound and feel of the ball off the putter face.
Thanks for the chance to try these balls.
Good product as usual from Titleist.

Thanks for the opportunity to try this ball. I was sent the ball almost 3 weeks ago and only just had the chance to try it.
After to telling my golfing pals that I had the chance to try th ball and their remarks that I only had 3 and whether they were going to last the round.
I managed get around the course near my handicap change and was very impressed withthis ball. I normally play with pro v1x only on special rounds. I found the ball offered better spin and everyone remarked on my check and spin back. In one approach shotgun back near on 10 foot.
Thanks for this chance and will definitely like the opportunity to do this again.

Thanks for the test balls. Have used them all over the past month.
Driver (910D) - good penetrating ball flight
AP2 714 - good feel across all irons.
Vokey SM5 - more feel, more spin (spun off the 9th green yesterday...).
Scotty Cam Fastback No 1.5 - good feel, rolls well.
Similar to ProV1X, a few more yards, more control on short irons (PW and GW) but more durable.

Hi got the test balls last week and i have tried them out.I normally play with a soft ball these sounded harder off the driver but i got decent distance with them and fairly straight,my iron shots lost no distance at all and the ball sounded harder off the face of the putter but ran well.
Enjoyed testing these balls and would recommend them to play with
Thanks Team Titleist

Hi David, Played 2 rounds with new Test Balls Sat !5th and today 18th. A lot drier than my first review, so am pleased to say how impressed i was with these balls. I play of 17 and shot nett 66 (par 68) sat and 37 pts today. My drives were so much straighter as i said before, but i was more impressed with the iron shots seemed to get far more height and softer landings and hit more greens in reg than ever before, Shame about my putting though. They certainly seem to suit my game, as i can't control when or if i put spin on a ball. The accuracy of test balls is far better for me than prov1's i have used. They also appear to be a lot more durable.
What are they going to be called and can i can get some more.
Ps only lost 1 so far, for me thats very good
Cheers

I have tested the PROv1 protos which were kindly sent to me.
I found them very similar in performance to last year’s ProV1x although as others have commented I found the sound a little disconcerting which made the feedback from them a little dull in comparison to last year’s model.
I played 2 balls (proto and last year’s Prov1X) to compare performance I’m a +1 handicap and had one of those occasional good ball striking days and consistently hit both balls within a couple of yards of each other. The difference in flight and distance was to me negligible although if pushed I would say the Proto was slightly longer. Short game wise it feels like a Prov1x but with the amount of rain we've had course conditions negate the potential difference in green side response and therefore I’m unable to really compare it.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the opportunity to test this prototype ball.
My first impression was that the ball actually felt soft to touch and on the practice green this was confirmed with a softer feel off the putter face.
Off the first tee with driver the ball felt really good and seemed to hold its line better than the usual Pro V1. On reaching my ball I was a good 10 yards further than normal. A crisp iron to the green felt really good with plenty of check.
During the round I hit the ball into a number of trees but the ball did not mark up and looked in good shape after 18 tough holes so I would say the cover is definitely more durable.
My conclusion would be the ball feels softer off the club face. is longer, stops quicker and is more durable than the previous ball. An all round winner in my eyes.
