    Please leave all feedback here...

    Dear David,

Great surprise to receive my 2 sleeves of Test balls on 21/11/2013.

I tried the Red number ball on Saturday, although the weather was dry the fairways at my course were damp and therefore the ball was not rolling any great distances.

My drives, using a 909D2, had a higher trajectory than using my usual ball NXT tour and seemed to have a longer downward arc leading to what I think were longer drives. This  long arc however was not evident with my 6 iron to lob wedge. I found  height and an increase in distance from my usual ball, but the finishing arc was steeper.  As to the all important stop abiliity, allowing for the greens to be softer, but not pudding like, at this time of year, from a height the ball would land and move forward, but not race out.

On Sunday I used the Black numbered ball. The weather conditions were similar to Saturday, perhaps a bit colder. I thought the ball had a flatter trajectory with all the clubs, however like the Red numbered ball, there was greater distance.

Both balls held a good line in the air. I found both balls gave a good feel off the putter. I think the Red was slightly softer than the Black and was my preferred ball. In each instance the balls cleaned up nicely and held their slight pearlescence which is attractive.

I still have four unhit balls which I look forward to using, but if at the end of the test you have a surplus remaining please feel free to send them on.

    Thanks

    Andy Ringham

I have played a couple of rounds now with the red marked ball and I like it.  It flies straight, seems long enough, feels soft on the putter yet doesn't tend to scuff.  I am only a 20 handicapper but they get my vote.

thanks for test balls received used red numbered ball for first time yesterday and was very pleased with both feel and action with all clubs felt great of irons and think added a few yards in distance ball was as new after 18 holes so very durable look forward to using again and trying black numbered ball thanks again

  4. I received a sleeve of the Black numbered test balls from my pro today.

Off the putter face they felt really soft (possibly softer than my usual Pro V1)

Well hit driver went further than I thought it would - played with a regular partner that hits drive similar length to me normally and on a couple of drives I was 25/30 yards ahead of him!!

I was really impressed overall with this ball and I would certainly buy it.

so i used my test balls the other day and shot a 6 over 77

Off the tee the ball went miles, felt like an nxt or velocity, it was hard to give an opinion for round the green as my course greens are very soft and any ball stops dead, gonna save a couple for when the course drys up to see what happens, and im very impressed with the durability as used the same ball for the entire round and no scuff marks at all!

  6. have tried the balls over two golf courses and was very pleased they are very straight off the tee

and go a long way  longer than the other titleist balls I have played with

they have a nice feel around and on the the greens

I think they bare a very good ball

  7. I played my first 18 holes with TEST balls (black) in cold, wintery conditions. The temperature was 5 degrees C with minimal wind,  fairway conditions were soggy, and the greens were soft & slow.

I noted about the same shot shape/flight and distance off the tee compared with my regular NXT ball. Using fairway rescue and iron clubs I thought the ball felt harder than I am accustomed to. Approaching the green with wedge shots resulted in stopping close to the landing pitch mark; however, on bump & run approaches the ball seemed to run on further without stopping. I noticed no difference in putting from the NXT; just fine with pleasant feel off the putter face.

Overall, the ball flew and felt OK. I couldn't begin to guess what model it might have been, but I would be surprised to learn it was either Pro V1 or Pro V1x, but it did feel harder than a DT Solo. That's just my guess.

Thanks for choosing me to test.

Have just received 6 test balls. 3 red numbers 3 black numbers. Have only so far tested the red they have a nice soft feel off the club similar to the NXT S but more so, slightly more resilient cover that enabled me to get more spin. I will check the black this weekend.

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  9. Thanks for test balls - unfortunately lost the first straight off the bat at the first tee and didn't want to lose the others

good ball flight and distance though - just too many leaves

    will try again this Saturday

Thanks very much for the 2 sleeves of balls received back end of last week.

I wrote a response earlier but I think it went into the wrong place!? :o/

Played both balls today in wet, cold and blustery conditions (otherwise known as F5 gusting 40mph, a lot of rain and around 8 degrees C). Admittedly not the best day to do some testing but hey, it's better than working!

Played both and felt the red was the softer and more responsive ball of the two, or at least IMO. Neither performed badly, but I think I would put the red into my bag first out of the two.

Black seemed slightly longer and maybe straighter off the tee than the reds, although to be honest I was nailing both down the middle of the fairway and a few yards separated them, with neither one being realistically any longer than the other. Pitches, chips and putts all flew well for both balls however my preference would stick with the red in these shots.

I hit both the black and red into the green and also hit a DT solo, I found I got a little back spin with the red, solo dropped on it's pitch mark and the black rolled on a couple of yards... whether this is me or the ball is debatable, however the red does feel softer to hit and gives the impression of a better strike, again whether that is true or not is debatable. Either way, all 3 were 6-9 yards from the pin.

Wear and tear was pretty good on both balls considering they were hit from a variety of lies and situations and I did play 2 of each at a time over 18 holes... I am a 1 man 4 ball. None of them appeared scuffed or scratched and would have happily pulled them out of the bag on the next round.

Slight problem with that though... I sunk all 3 reds into the water hazard on the 17th. I thought the first had cleared and was just off the green so I hammered the other 2... apparently all 3 got wet! :oO

The blacks survived and continued me through to the 18th for a par!

I wouldn't be adverse to having either the black or reds in the bag but for me the reds win. although, isn't there something psychological about red cars being faster than black??!? ;o)

Thanks Titleist for the opportunity to test another set of balls, it is refreshing to see a company actually pay attention to Joe Public and their requirements and actually take a bit of a chance by spending a little money on producing test products that we can play a part in.

My suspicions are Black = Velocity and Red = NXT Tour... but I would be guessing.

    Hi,

I am 58 years old, have a handicap of 16 and a swing speed of 90 mph which means that I hit my driver approx 220 yards carry plus a few yards roll (on a good day).

I normally play with the NXT Tour S but have now played 3 rounds with the new balls.  I found them as soft of my current ball but not as forgiving when I do not hit the ball sweet.  A bad shot with the new ball means that my fade is now a slice.  I would say that the new ball is similar in feel to the Pro V1 - but I can do not have a fast enough swing speed to get the most out of a Pro V1 - and just like the Pro V1 I think that perhaps the test balls might be better suited to those with a fast swing speed (over 100 mph).

I have a lesson (using trackman) booked for next week so will try to compare the trackman numbers of the test ball against the NXT Tour S and then report my findings here.

    Regards

Played with both balls yesterday. Both felt good off driver and irons with a nice sound. Black felt slightly better when chipping and putting for me. Distance good and comparable to NXT S balls. Red ball maybe a bit softer and slightly more carry through the air. I tend to cut up covers when using wedges but they both held up pretty well over a round. As usual quality ball and feels like it. Thanks for the chance to use them.

test balls received and tried, great flight of the tee, only problem i found was that these balls cant swim(bad slice into the pond) still have 5 more to go at. thanks titleist

  14. Used both the red numbers and the black numbers this week.  Both performed well, but the black number felt a little softer and therefore would be my ball of choice. Both flew high and straight and seemed to stop on the greens - but the greens are very soft. I guess both are quality Titleist products, but maybe the red number is aimed at a lower price band?

Was given a sleeve of black writing balls last week by my pro and used them today. Was really impressed with the feel off the putter face as we're my playing partners on the practice green. On the course the ball putted extremely well feeling very soft off the putter face and when chipping around around the greens stopping very quickly, saved me a few times. Off the driver and irons from the tee, the ball felt hard, I thought that it flew straighter with no loss of distance. Would seriously consider this ball if cheaper than the Pro V that I normally play. Handicap 10

  16. I got my two sleeves last Friday and have used them, well one of each this weekend with really good results. I'm not sure what model they are although I have used enough Titleist balls to hazard a good guess by now. Anyway The black numbered ball definitely  has all the attributes of a premium ball, it is long and spins really well, stopping dead on good pitch and approach shots and they launch well too with great carry.

The Red numbered ball is firmer but also is a great ball with very similar results to the black numbered ball. One thing that is very noticeable is that they both are extremely resilient. Our course is short  at the moment and wet so I have been hitting lots of short wedges into soft greens. I normally mash up a ball in no time but not these, they look as good after 18 as they did on 1.

Whatever they are the black one is going straight into my bag and the red ball will not be far behind it.

    Great job,as usual Titleist.

    London,

thanks for sending me the test balls. I took them out on the course today and played 9 holes with each ball. There's a noticeable difference between the 2 balls:

    Differences:

    - Black number felt a lot softer, which I liked with the driver and irons, but not as much with the putter (I play an putter with soft insert and left many a put short)

    - Red number ball has a bit more stop and spin, especially with short irons (7 iron to wedge) .I don't spin the ball a lot as I don't use hands, but managed to spin the red one back a couple of feet or stop relatively quickly

    Similarities for the 2 balls:

    - both had similar flights, and slightly higher than my current ball (NXT Tour)

    - Distance was very similar, maybe the red number was a little further but wouldn't have been more than 5 yards off the tee

PS If I was a betting man then these balls are the new NXT Tour and NXT tour S...

Thank you Titleist for giving me the opportunity to be part of testing these balls.

I have now played 36 holes with both the red and black I will start with the black numbered ball first.

I was firstly a little supprised at the slight lack of feel on both chips and long shoots, it was soft but in my opinion felt a little dead. Distance, and durability were good you could easerly get 3/4 rounds from a ball, spin was excellent

    Red numered ball

Distance was better for me with this ball, seemed to go higher as well. Felt a little firm for me but couldn't fault the ball, again durability was good and spin excellent.

    Evening

played the New Course at St Andrews. Used one of the red test balls.

Hit it great and it felt great off the face. From a full shot it stopped very nicely. No distance lost or gained really against the Pro V.

Putting was just as good as the Pro V.

Got to the third hole, par 5. Just short in two and chose to pitch/chip up the slope. That's when I decided I probably wouldn't use these for "real", unfortunately a lack of any check was the result of the chip.

Persevered and the next pitch/chip was at 10. Same result, no check at all.  This was pretty consistent the whole way.

The other three in the group were getting some check.

I'm off +2 and shot 69 to win at the last so I'm not in the huff or in a bad mood with my game. Just some honest thoughts.

While I'm here, the Players glove is not what it used to be either, probably going to switch to FJ as the lasting quality is not the same as it used to be. It's a shame as I've using Titleist stuff for as long as I can remember.

    Hi

Thanks for the test balls - I found them responsive with a good soft feel for putting. Seemed to grip well, but damp conditions at this time of year make most things stop, so perhaps not  a great test.

Generally enjoyed the feel/sound and control especially off the mid irons (Titleist MBs) and certainly enjoyed putting with them

    Keep up the good work

    Thanks
